Give the Drummer Some! Ep. 6- The Donut Issue

This week, thanks to Covid19, my guest is ... me. Since I was asked this week to particpate in an online community music project, I walk through the steps I took to create a drum part for a fusion piece written by multi-instrumentalist Neil Champagne. The goal was to learn it, record it and mix it within a few hours. Here's what happened ...

Give the Drummer Some! Ep. 5 - Percy Lindell

This week our guest is Percy Lindell, 81-year-old drummer and former Jacksonville music teacher. He has a rich past here in Northeast Florida, both as a teacher and performer. Percy wrote a text book for his students and invented his own drumming language as part of the curriculum. He's got a rich musical history, and he shares it with us in his own inimitable way.

Give the Drummer Some! Ep. 4 - Lola Nico

This week, it's the magnificent Lola Nico, whom I met when I was hired as lead singer for her band Young for a Day. She was a shy teenager back then, but she blew me away with her natural ability behind the drums. She's spent the past few years paying her dues performing with blues guitarist David Julia, but now she's back in town at the Univerity of North Florida studying both music and American Sign Language -- which leads us to some pretty interesting ares of conversation.

You can find Lola on Instagram at @lolanicodrumming. And you can watch her perform in any number of David Julia's Youtube videos or, of course, on Facebook.

I can be reached at johnecitrone@gmail.com.

Give the Drummer Some! Ep. 3 - Eric Mason

This week we talk to Jacksonville drummer Eric Mason. Eric's drumming journey has taken him around the world, and his resume is too long to list here, but here we'll name-check a few: Mystic Dino, Toots and the Maytals, Mofro, The Dukes of Dixieland, Percy Sledge and many others.

Check him out on Facebook.

Give the Drummer Some! Ep. 2 - Thomas Morrison

Our guest this week is Jacksonville drummer Thomas Morrison, who had an unusual introduction to drumming relatively late in life. We talk about his beginnings, his various projects and his ability to play pickup gigs on the fly.

Check out Tom on social media, where he often posts videos of him playing as well as links to his current band Skyview.
